5602 Update for Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course

 

When registering for an update course, include a front and back copy of your current trainer card with the registration form.In addition, each applicant for a trainer update must send in pages 1 & 5 of a  Prerequisite Verification Form. On page 1 complete through item #6, then skip to item #41 on page 5. Check the appropriate box and remember to sign the Prerequisite Verification Form at item #43 on that same page.

 

NOTICE: As part of its continuing effort to improve the Outreach Training Program, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration  (OSHA) has eliminated the authorized trainer “90-day grace period” described in Sections III.B.1.,2, and 4 of the OSHA Outreach Training Program Requirements. This change is included in the 2019 published revisions of the OSHA Outreach Training Program Requirements and applicable sections of each Industry Procedures document, and became effective January 1, 2019. Disaster Site Worker Outreach Trainers, who do not successfully complete OSHA #5602 Update Course for Disaster Site Worker Outreach Trainers prior to their expiration date, will need to begin the process again.

Prerequisite: 5600/5602 Disaster Site Worker Trainer Certificate/Card OSHA #5602 Update Requirement: To remain current on relevant OSHA matters and ensure quality training, OSHA authorized Disaster Site Worker Outreach trainers are required to complete the OSHA #5602 Update for Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course every four years. The OSHA #5600 Disaster Site Worker Trainer Course may also be used to maintain a trainer’s authorized status. If a trainer’s authorization has expired, they will be unable to conduct OSHA Outreach Training Program classes and receive student course completion cards. This course is intended to update the authorized Disaster Site Worker trainer with new technical and regulatory information related to disaster response and the role of OSHA in coordinating occupational safety and health in the National Response Framework. Participants will have the opportunity to share “lessons learned” from teaching the 7.5 or 15 hour Disaster Site Worker outreach classes. Minimum student contact hours: 7.5
