Course Description: The 30-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide a variety of training to people with some safety responsibility. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA Standards. As the 30-hour General Industry Outreach course is based on hazard recognition and awareness, it will not be accepted as equivalent to the OSHA Course #511. Those individuals successfully completing the hourly and course requirements will receive a 30-hour Dept. of Labor Outreach training card. This program is appropriate for those general industry employers and employees who wish to have a well-rounded, voluntary, hazards-based course; with no initial expectation that participants will go on to become General Industry Outreach trainers. The OSHA Standards-based Course #511 is the pre-requisite for those desiring to become Outreach Trainers by attending the OSHA 501 for General Industry Trainers.
The 30-hour Construction Outreach courses are based on hazard recognition and awareness, and is not considered equivalent to the OSHA Course #511.
