The 3-year Heat NEP, initially set to expire on April 8, 2025, will continue for one year, and expire on April 8, 2026, or until superseded by an updated directive. Federal OSHA offices must continue to identify and eliminate or reduce exposures to heat-related hazards resulting in illnesses and deaths, both indoors and outdoors, through inspection targeting, outreach, and compliance assistance. State Plans are encouraged to adopt this NEP extension. No changes are being made to the contents of the Heat NEP or coding of inspections in OIS at this time, and coding for all enforcement and consultation activities conducted during this NEP extension will continue as described in the Heat NEP.
