Course Description: This one-day course is designed as a training program to inform employers and employees of the best practices in trenching and excavation safety. Topics include: understanding and application of definitions related to OSHA’s excavation standard; excavation hazards and control measures; soil analysis techniques; protection system requirements, and emergency response. The program is a facilitated interactive session.
Who should attend? Construction employer, manager, employee, or employee representative who, as part of a safety and health program, needs to understand the requirements of a “competent person” for excavation work as described in the OSHA construction safety standards for excavations (29 CFR 1926, Subpart P).
